Educator License Levels

There are 3 educator license levels

  1. Professional Educator License - All of the requirements have been met and competencies demonstrated; an approved educator preparation program was completed.
  1. Associate Educator License - A minimum number of requirements have been met and/or competencies demonstrated; an approved educator preparation program was not completed. This is a temporary, non-transferable license that qualifies an educator to work for three years in a Utah school.
  1. LEA-Specific (Local Education Agency Specific) Educator License - Under the direction of the local governing boards of school districts or charter, and an approved educator preparation program was not completed. This is an emergency license that only qualifies an educator to work in the requested LEA.

Disclosure Statement - SLAHS employs educators who hold LEA-Specific Educator Licenses, license areas, and/or endorsements in accordance with Utah State Board of Education Rule R277-301.
